JAYLEN PARKS
I am Jaylen Parks and I am a master’s student working with Dr. Bromfield and Dr. Daigneault at the University of Florida. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia and I currently have a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Tuskegee University located in Alabama. My interest in research began during my first internship at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. There I studied the effect of environmental toxicants on the growth and development of embryos.
During my internship in 2019 at the University of California - Davis, I worked in plant biology. There I studied molecular biology and learned the inner mechanisms of how cells work. This inspired me to not only know the gross effects of environmental toxicants of reproduction, but also the reasons as to why they are happening on the inner cellular level.
I applied to do my master’s here at the University of Florida and to work with Dr. Bromfield and Dr. Daigneault because I am interested in their area of research, specifically the effects of environmental toxicants on reproductive cells. I began my Master’s program in August 2020.
I enjoy researching because it allows me to see the “why” behind what happens and how we got to the observations we see.
