Uterine disease leaves a long-term mark on the follicle

The latest work from the lab describes the persistent effects of uterine disease on the ovarian follicle, long after the resolution of disease. Rachel Piersantis latest work published in the journal Reproduction used RNA-seq technology to highlight the long-term effects of uterine disease 6 weeks after infection is resolved. This persistent low grade inflammatory environment described in these studies may result in altered oocyte quality and be, in part, responsible for the decrease fertility observed in cows after they have recovered from uterine disease. Dr Piersanti's full paper can be found here.
